Installing a Unix box, today, has become a pretty easy task. Default choices usually leave you with a stable and usable box right after the first boot. Anyway, you might like (I liked) to perform some tweaking to move a bit further from the out of the box stage. These are the steps I took.

I gathered some quick notes here to be able to rebuild - more or less - a good working environment wherever I am and whichever system I have to use.
