Development
The development stage consist in building a working solution for the newly consolidated environment by assembling the various elements outlined in the design phase. The aim is to create a model to test the different consolidation aspects, analyze performances and create a set of procedures to move from the model to the operational environment.
Proof of concept
This is the testing model that reproduces the final environment, in terms of software, configurations and required services. Realistic load conditions must be used.
Performances analysis
The analysis of performances is based on the recorded activities of the environment under realistic load, and performed trying different workloads to predict system behaviors and identify possible problems.
Test plan
Defines the measures to ensure the consolidation results. It consists of a series of tests for both software aspects and operational processes.
Test specifications
Contains the details of the test to be performed:
- what will be tested
- how it will be tested
- testing material (data, harness etc.)
- the criteria for judging success or failure of a test
